solostrap-JASS Tek

solostrap-JASS Tek
Just because everything else KAP has an acronym I have one also Introducing the JASS (Joshs Auto Solo Strap) aka PHISS (Please Help Im Single Strap). I have had a few requests for info on this. how? what? where did you get? so I thought I should explain. Read and then View Large for detail.

Top Image: Plain strap w/ 2 loops on end- Walmart 2 pack in automotive section near bungee cords $2.49 while you are there pick up a 2 pack of carabiners $1.50 ( I always like to have extra) third strap is how I usually have it set up. I clip the larger carabiner to my belt.

2nd Image: If you need to say… run to your car…or get in the shot or…help an old lady cross the road or set up another kite.. I will put one or two straps on a carabiner and put them around a pole or bench or log what ever is around and attach solo strap to it…. solo strap attaches to my sand anchor the same way.

3rd Image:close up of cleat attached (home depot $1.00)

4th Image: side view

5th Image: bottom view – You will have to find the right bolts and "nuts" that fit this a little searching or you can bring in my picture and ask for help. The "nuts" have little prongs that go through the strap and hold it in place you must hammer them down and round off the end of the bolts so they dont come off and dont have sharp edges to cut line.

hint to make the holes in the strap for the bolts- use a blow torch to heat up a nail or screwdriver and melt them through… any questions please ask

Thought 2 Thing in 2hrs or Less – 3d Print & Design Workshop. With a Makerbot Cupcake CNC we Collaborative Designed and Printed a "iPod Cord Cleat"in about an hour and a half. One of the participants (Raven Gildea) proposed the design, basic function, and shape. I ran the CAD software and the class gave direction on how to best implement the design and make it functional within the design parameters of the Makerbot. Having extra eyes and minds helped speed the design process, catching potential errors before the moving on to the printing stage of the workshop. The first design and print was completely functional after a little clean up. Way to go guys!
